Manitoba Open Farm Day is extremely pleased to have 56 Open Farm Day Host Sites – twenty-three of these are new Host Sites! We are especially excited with the diversity of agricultural farms (dairy, bison, beef, organic, chicken, grain/oilseeds etc.) and the number of other industry/agri-tourism businesses – including: fertilizer and crop services, agricultural societies, equine lead programs/horse stables, greenhouses, pumpkin patches, bed and breakfasts, environmental and conservation organizations such as La Salle Redboine Conservation District Pelly Lake site (recently highlighted on CBC) and Nature Conservancy’s partnerships with farmers! Then there are the research centres including Food Development Centre, Manitoba Beef Forages Initiative, and the Bruce Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre – where Great Tastes of Manitoba will provide recipes and activities celebrating their 30 years of Manitoba’s most-watched cooking show. Finally, and not to be forgotten the many ag museums (eight in all) who share and tell our fantastic agriculture history in our province!
For the first time ever – Heartland Travel Tours is offering a bus tour leaving Polo Park on Open Farm Day and travelling to Portage la Prairie to visit the four new Host Sites at Portage la Prairie.
