La Riviere & Community Recreation Association invite you to join us as we celebrate the spring migration of hawks and eagles through Manitoba's scenic Pembina Valley. This festival will take a new direction in 2020 and be extended to two days. The first day will focus on our youth and will bring classrooms of children to learn and explore the importance of wildlife stewardship and habitat protection through interactive STEM programs and activities, including nature walks, virtual reality technology and live wildlife raptor ambassadors!
Friday evening will have an "Owl Prowl" public activity where we invite participants to explore the valley in the evening with an owl expert guide to see (and hear!) different owl species who call the valley home or who are transitioning through the region on their migration path.
Saturday is a big community event inviting members from all of Manitoba to explore and celebrate the Pembina Valley as one of North America's top site for spring migrating Red-Tail Hawks and other raptors. The Pembina Valley is Manitoba's premier spring raptor migration corridor. The day's activities will include interactive booths from many wildlife and conservation organizations, STEM activities for children and families to learn about wildlife and habitat protection and expert speaker talks about raptors, endangered species, the importance of our ecosystems and much more. Explore the world of birds with top-notch professionals and enthusiastic guides. See live birds of prey eye-to-eye, capture fantastic close-up photos of raptors and gain insights into the challenges these birds face in the wild.
Whether you are a seasoned birder or just curious about birds or your environment, bring your binoculars, a camera and dress for the weather. With guides to lead the way, explore the community's natural beauty and experience the Pembina Valley as Manitoba's premier spring raptor migration corridor. Learn how to identify and count the migrating birds. Or join others indoors in Blair Morrison Hall and La Riviere & Community Arena for the jaw-dropping natural spectacle of live raptors. There are also interactive displays, presentations, rainbow auction and 50/50 draw, photo contest, owl art contest, door prizes, canteen, and much, much more.
