La Riviere 11th Annual TurkeyFest & Duck Races

Written by

Title: La Riviere 11th Annual TurkeyFest & Duck Races

READY...SET...QUACK!

Are You Ready to RACE??

The 11th Annual La Riviere TurkeyFest & Duck Race is back to celebrate 11 years of spec-quack-ular fun, and we need YOU to “join the flock” and help our Recreation Centre! For as little as $5, your donation enters you to win fantastic prizes 0f 25%, 15% and 10% of all tickets sold and helps the La Riviere & Community Recreation Association raise funds for programs, building maintenance and to keep the doors open. Get your tickets early as only 700 tickets are printed and we have sold out every year for the last 3 years.
Once you adopt your ducks, come watch them race down the Pembina River on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019. This FREE family-friendly fun event starts at 11:00 am when you can enjoy BBQ Canteen lunch serving hamburgers, hot dogs and more. There are games and other outdoor activities for kids of all ages. At 1:00 pm, La Riviere Volunteer Fire Department will rumble into La Riviere Centennial Campground, sirens a blast, and encourages kids of all ages to join in on water games and other challenges they’ve provided. At 3:00 pm, all kids are invited to enter the Bike Decorating Contest and Parade. Then at 5:00 pm, cheer your rubber duck on to victory as it braves the river waters with hundreds of other lucky duckies. At the start of the race, the sponsored ducks are all launched into the river. It is usual to start at the bend on the north end of the campground.

They then float downstream ......... Facing all sorts of perils on the way........ Until ...with some final jostling for position..... the finish line is in sight.
The first three to cross the finish line will win fabulous prizes, in cash. You don't have to be present to win, but you won't want to miss this quack-tastic event!

The Rec Association is able to offer refreshments at the Lazy Lagoon Lounge- cheering on your duck is thirsty work and they know people will want a cup of tea afterwards too! The regular stock will be on hand, as well as a Signature Drink and the bicycle blender, all for your enjoyment and right next to the BBQ Canteen with all its tasty goodies to offer. Can you smell those caramelized onions cooking?
All proceeds benefit La Riviere & Community Recreation Association. The Association provides a network of services designed to provide recreation and recreational facilities in our hometown and for the surrounding communities.

For 10 years, we've been racing ducks for the Rec Centre. On Saturday, June 22nd, we will splash another record number of ducks into the Pembina River. Your kindness and generosity for the 2018 Duck Race was extraordinary and we can't thank you enough for your incredible momentum and passion. We would be remiss if we did not thank the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, our Volunteer Sponsor and our many volunteers who so generously give of their time and talents.
We think the 2019 race will be the best yet! Contact 204-242-3272 for more information or to purchase a ticket or two.

It’s time to get quackin’! Adopt a duck. Help the Rec Centre.

Join us Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 for the 11th Annual La Riviere TurkeyFest & Duck Race
